Every month we will select wines to feature. Some of these will currently be on our wine list, and some will be brought in just for this feature. On your next visit to Tango, ask your server for our Feature Wines of the month.
Zeta Cava Rosado
Coming from the DO. Cava region in Spain, this Rose is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. To obtain the desirable colour, the red skins were left in contact with the grape juice. In the glass it has a pale and brilliant salmon pink colour, with fine bubble chains. On the palate it offers a clean and fruity bouquet with reminiscences of cherries. What better way to welcome summer than with a glass of sparkling wine?
Food suggestions: Pear and Gorgonzola Flatbread, Scallop and Prawn Ceviche, Barely Seared Tuna and Soy Glazed Salmon Wraps
El Hada Verdejo
This Verdejo could be considered the Spanish version of Sauvignon Blanc. This wine presents a pale yellow colour with light green shades. On the nose, it is very expressive with tropical fruits, citrus notes and a floral background. The palate is well balanced with a hint of minerality and fresh peaches. The use of stainless steel barrels and cold fermentation helps ensure the crisp acidity of this wine. This verdejo is easy to drink on it’s own, but will also pair nicely with food.
Food suggestions: Mezze Dips, Wonton Crusted Prawns, Bistro Mussels, Warm Pecan Crusted Goat Cheese Salad
Aduna Crianza – DOCa Rioja
This wine is 100% tempranillo from Northern Spain. Wines from Rioja are generally lower in acidity with full fruit flavours. In the glass this wine has a deep cherry colour with garnet hues. On the nose, ripe red fruit and liquorice combine with toasty and woody notes. It has good structure with firm tannins and a lingering finish.
Food suggestions: Charcuterie or Fromage plate, Mushroom and Truffle Gnocchi, Stuffed Mejdool Dates, Grilled Petit Beef Filet
Wine FAQ
Q. On your list all I see are bottle prices, do you offer wines by the glass?
A. Yes, we do have wines available by the glass. For now we have decided not to list them in print so we can change them often. Your server will be able to let you know what is currently available.
Q. What if I want to try a different wine by the glass?
A. Our listed glass pours have been selected to provide a range of options. However, if there is something else you would like to try we would be happy to accomodate. Please ask your server.
Q. What if I want to try a few different wines with my small plates?
A. For those not ready to commit to one wine for their entire meal, we offer 3oz (or half glass) pours. This allows you to try a few different wines, and change wine flavours as you are changing food flavours.
Q. Am I allowed to bring in my own wine?
A. Yes, Tango does allow you to bring in your own wine. A $12.50 corkage fee will be applied. Any bottles brought in to the restaurant must have been purchased through a licensed retailer, and opened by your server at the table.
Q. What if I can’t finish my bottle of wine?
A. If you find yourself with wine you won’t be able to finish in the restaurant, we would be happy to recork the bottle for you to take home.
